Big Rains Coming to the Area, Arctic Blast to the North | Weather
We are stuck in a very stagnant pattern right now with a very active southern stream and a very active northern stream as well. The thing about this pattern is that it is cutting the country in half and will do so through next week. Just take a look at the temps that are in the northern part of the US as compared to what is in the South East! This is course a projection, but is always the sign of a very active pattern.
As this pattern sets up and hold for a week, disturbances will come out and bring us rain chances every day from Thursday all the way through next Wednesday. While this is happening, different shots of Arctic air will come in from the plains and surge south. This means that we will have a roller coaster in temps as cold air surges in, wedges along the mountains, then goes back north and warm air moves back in. The first shot of cold air comes in on Saturday, wedges Sunday, then tries to warm up Sunday night!! While this is happening we will see rain chances every day with the exception of Tomorrow.
The map you see above is the projected total rainfall we will have through next week. Parts of the area could see over 3 inches of rain!
Also there is a good chance that a large part of the south from Arkansas into Tennessee and West virginia could see below zero temps next week!! In Georgia we will see upper teens potentially next Wednesday am!
