Stunning Turquoise Lake in Siberia | Weather
These amazing pictures were taken by Alexy Trofimov of a beautiful lake in Siberia called Lake Baikal. The reason for the intense blue is the fact that it iscomes from the fact that it is the cleanest lake in the world. On a sunny day in summer you can see over 100 feet into the lake. Even when it is frozen solid in winter you can still see well below the surface. During the intense winters of Siberia the water freezes so hard that is expands and fractures. The resultant is these massive pieces of big blue ice the run up against each other and come out of the lake. It almost looks like superman's home at the north pole!
This lake contains 1/5 of the world's fresh water and is the oldest known lake on the planet!
