The Persimmon Seed Myth | Weather
I would love to have a few of you be volunteers for a cool experiment I would like to do. It is the old persimmon seed myth that I would love to explore in tonight's blog. According to farmer's almanac:
"According to old-timers, persimmon seeds can be used to predict the severity of winter weather. When cut into two pieces, the persimmon seed will display on of three symbols. A knife shape will indicate a cold icy winter (where wind will cut through you like a knife). A fork shapeindicates a mild winter. A spoon shape stands for a shovel to dig out the snow."
So lets all as total weather geeks do a cool experiment. For whoever wants to participate in this feel free to get involved in the fun. For whoever wants to participate go to the store and buy one of these persimmon seeds, cut it open, and take a picture of it. Email the pics to me at email@example.com and I will write a blog based on what I see in all of the pics. Then we can take the results and compare it to the actual winter later down the road. We can also compare my winter forecast with the persimmon seeds forecast as well.
Here are some of my previous blogs that are similar in nature to this one. Please take a look:
