SPC Has Highest Threat For Tornadoes in W Georgia | Weather
Title (Max 100 Characters)
After going over some of the new model data this morning I am agreement with the SPC as to where the highest risk for tornadoes will be later this afternoon with one exception...
I think that 10% area should be moved to the east a bit to include most of the metro area....
Yes, I think there is a chance of tornadoes this afternoon, a chance we could see a few isolated tornadoes... It also means that I think we will see damaging straight line winds in some of these storms today. Winds just above the surface are going to crank up to around 70-80 mph as this storm develops and heads out into the region. I am expecting that around Noon is when it is going to get active in the NW.
Timing and Bottom Line
For the NW sections of the state I am thinking it will start around noon.
For the metro it will be 2-6pm
For the area just to the east 5-9pm
On a scale of 1-10 I am giving this event a 5/6, might bring it up to a 6 if we get more sunshine.
