Winter Storm Warning, Freezing Rain Advisory 5pm Update | Weather
Up top you will see an updated watches and warning map for all of N Georgia. The winter storm warning is in effect for tomorrow from 6am til 6pm for the potential of 0.10" to 0.25" of sleet and freezing rain. The rest of the are is under a freezing rain advisory from 6am til 1pm. This area could see some patchy light sleet and light freezing rain tomomrrow morning.
1-4am - NW starts to see some light sleet and freeezing rain. 4-7am - West N Georgia and parts of north metro counties (Bartow, Cherokee, far N Fulton (Alpharetta, Milton), Forsyth starts to see a few sleet pellets. 7-10am - Metro Atlanta sees some light patchy sleet, and some very light patchy freezing rain. Atlanta will not see a major freezing rain event, but there is a good chance that there will be a few travel problems in the area in the morning, mainly in the north metro counties. 10-12pm - Temps start to warm up and we start going from a winter weather event to a rain event. NE Georgia - There is a good chance of a pretty good icing event mainly NE of Gainesville up into Pickens, N Hall, Fanin, and Gilmer counties. We think this will start in the early morning around 6-7am and last through the afternoon. Bottom line is this, this will not a major event for metro Atlanta, but we think there will be enough light freezing rain and sleet to cause some problems for the morning rush. Keep checking back with the blog and 11alive.com for the latest updates
On a scale of 1-10 I am giving this a 5 at this point in time for Atlanta. I am giving this a 6-6 for the NE.....
