Coldest Air of the Year Coming | Weather
It seems like just a few days ago we were in the 70's and it felt like spring was almost here. Then the rain started and so far we have seen rain 12 out of the first 16 days!!! Now it is cold and we are expecting snow across a large part of N Georgia tomomrrow. Then on top of that we are looking at the coldest air of the year heading in here early next week!!!
Before we talk about next week here is a recap on what is happening so here is a reminder from an earlier blog as to the watches across the area:
The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm watch for a large portion of N Georgia for tomorrow afternoon. There is the potential for the N Georgia to see the following:
Metro Counties: A winter mix with no accumulations
North Metro Counties: (Bartow, Floyd, Godron, Pickens, Dawson, Fannin, Gilmer) Could see a dusting to a bit more on the grassy surfaces, no travel problems.
North Georgia Mountains: I think there is a good chance that by the time this system is done and gone the mountains could see around 1-2 inches!
Cold Air Next Week
According to the latest GFS and EURO there will be a massive match of cold air that is going to break loose from Northern Canada and head in this direction. The image above is of the forecasted highs for next Tuesday, we could be in the mid 30's!!! The forecasted lows could be getting into the teens for a majority of N Georgia. Below is the departure from normal, check out Tuesday, 16 degrees below normal!!! Winter is far from over for sure!!!
