Latest Update on the Winter Weather Possibility Thursday | Weather
From up above the chances for snow really haven't changed much since the last time we talked earlier today. The HPC is still holding parts of N Georgia with a good chance of seeing some snow, some areas in the north could see a dusting or more.
Latest NAM Model
The latest NAM model is pretty consistent with the 850 temps being cold enough for some snow to fall across the metro area Thursday afternoon. I am still not expecting any accumulations in Atlanta, but to the north in the mountains and even NW Georgia there is that chance of seeing a dusting to a bit more, possibly 1/2 an inch from Rome to Calhoun, to Ellijay to Clayton. I will be able to nail it down much better tomorrow as more data comes in.
The national weather service is going to be taking a look at all the latest data tonight and advising us at 4am in they plan on any watches of advisories.
The bottom line on all of this: This is a storm that is still 48 hours out and a lot can change. Based on that I still think that this is a pretty accurate forecast at this point in time, things will change so make sure you check back on the blog and 11alive.com frequently. I am giving this a 3-4 on a scale of 1-10 for awareness levels. I'll keep you posted.
