Heavy Rain in Parts of N Georgia, Major Cool Down Next Week | Weather
A stalled out front to our north will bring some very heavy rain to parts of the N Georgia area over the next few days. The area that will see the most rainfall will be the NW section that runs from Carroll to Pickens to Rabun county. We will see areas of rain train over this area over the next several days and could dump as much as 3 inches of much needed rain! At the same time it will take all that warm air and move it out of here, highs this week return to the 50's. For the metro Atlanta area we can expect rain to hang around on and off through Wednesday as then the front will finally push through. In Atlanta we could see around 1-1.5 inches!
I know everyone is wanting some cold air, after all it is January! Have no fear, the GFS and the Euro are both forecasting the biggest batch if cold air of the year, if not the last 5 years, to come down and send our temps into the 30's for highs next week. It is still a week out, but I am very confident that we will be wearing our thick jackets by next Tuesday!
