Snow Falling in the Mountains, Flurries Possible in the Metro | Weather
Current radar is showing bands of light snow flurries failing in Walker and Dade counties in NW Georgia. Some of those bands could make it tot he Atlanta metro later this afternoon.
Snow in the Mountains
The image you are seeing above is the WRF models showing a band of snow setting up today in Fannin county later this afternoon. The winds are such that a bit of an upslope flow will develop along that side of the mountains which will make it perfect to see snow. As of 12:15 today we are getting reports of snow coming down at a good clip in Blue Ridge. We will continue to see snow come down in the mountains through the afternoon and minor accumulations are possible through the evening hours.
Snow in the Metro
As this system continues to blow in cold air (currently 40 degrees in Atlanta and falling quickly) and a few bands come in from the NW, we could see a few flurries in the metro area later this afternoon. We are not expecting any travel issues at all with the flurries later today.
If you see any snow anywhere in the state, send them to firstname.lastname@example.org.
