Severe Weather Outlook for Monday Afternoon | Weather
The round of morning rain is starting to wind down across all of N Georgia this afternoon. Later this evening there will be a small window when we could see some severe weather develop, mainly after 4pm across a large portion of the region. There is a strong cold front that will be marching down towards the state later today, and I think there will be enough time for some instability to build in from the south out and ahead of the front. There is already some instability building into AL ahead of the front, you can see this in the first image below. When that meets up with the front and disturbance at the jet stream level, there could be some strong to severe storms into the evening hours.
In terms of severe threat, I think the SPC was a bit quick to get rid of the slight risk across N Georgia, so I think that the categorical probabilities should be a bit higher on the wind threat, but not on the tornado threat..
On a scale of 1-10 I give this evening a 2 to a 3.... We will keep you updated.
