6-14 Day Outlook
Analyzing the new data that has come out today we are looking at a pretty good chance that we are going to be abolve normal for temps the next 6-14 days. At the same time we are going to be drier than normal as well... The reason for this lies in the North Atlantic, the ridge that has given us a very cool November so far has broken down shifting the NAO (North Atlantic Oscillation - see previous blog: WINTER OUTLOOK) to go to a positive direction. This takes the east coast trough and turns into central US ridge and sends into a very warm spell. You can see this below with the pattern in the upper level ridge location and the accompanying surface temps that follow. AS for how this effects my winter forecast, that is only one week at the beginning of December, there are 11 weeks remaining for us to get very cold!
The CPC is on board with my thinking for the next 6-14 days, check out their analysis of what they are thinking as well. Right on line as to what I am thinking, warm and dry!
