Potential Big Changes Coming Next Week!

Short Term

For the next several day we will be experiencing very similar weather that we have for the last 3 days! We will see mainly clear skies for the overnight hours with an increase in the clouds during the day. take a look below at the waver vapor satellite image and you can see an upper low over Arkansas with a plume of upper level moisture that has stretched into N Georgia. This will hang around here through the weekend, as a matter of fact I have upped the rain chances to around 20% for Friday as this will move overhead.

The Weekend

Some of this upper energy will linger around the state for Saturday and Sunday which will keep rain chances to around 20% both days but late in the evening on Sunday (mainly after dark) we could see a little higher chance of rain. The winds will be back to the south across the state so that means that our temps will be a bit warmer and the humidity will be a bit higher as well.

Next Week Rain and Cool!!

The disturbance that brought major flooding in Vegas yesterday will then start to move a bit closer and dove down towards the Gulf over the latter half of the weekend. It will pop out late Sunday night into Monday morning and start bringing rain into the state. As of right now the GFS and the EURO are a bit different in terms of timing and location where the EURO brings the system in late Monday night with most of the rain falling just to our south. The GFS brings the system through early Monday and gives us more rain.... I am leaning with a blend of both models since all models have been totally underestimating the strength of the drought we have had. The official forecast has Monday at a 40% of rain with totals possibly getting up to around 1' in parts of N Georgia!! I will keep you updated on the changes over the next few days here and on the air!

Then both models are hitting with a BIG cool down next week around Wednesday and I think that they are spot on. I have been watching temps in the central regions of Canada and the N Plains. Those conditions combined with the AO (See an update on what the AO is here) swinging towards the negative side leads me to believe we are on track for a cool latter half of the week next week, could be a big one!

I will have a big update on the possibility of an upcoming El Nino for the winter and what it means for North Georgia if one happens later tonight.
