Storms Starting to Fire | Atlanta Weather | Weather

It looks like storms are starting to fire off in parts of N Georgia this afternoon. AS of 3pm most of the storms are located in and area from Lake Lanier through Lumpkin, Dawson, and Fannin counties. So far we have had no severe warnings, but as we go through the afternoon that will start to change. Right now the instability is around 1500 j/kg which just means that the air is unstable, but as we go through the afternoon a pocket of very cold air aloft will move in overhead and further destabilize the atmosphere. We should start to see more storms developing around 4pm, this time they might fire off a bit further to the south and move northward.
