Strong to severe thunderstorms are possible this afternoon and tonight. A cold is forecast to move through the area during the overnight hours, but showers will increase ahead of it. Light rain will begin between mid-morning and early afternoon. This will help to keep the atmosphere stable, but any breaks in the cloud cover will aid in strong thunderstorms. The primary concern with the storms will be damaging winds and hail.
The potential for the strong storms should diminish a little during the overnight. Showers will end quickly behind the front as drier air works in. Cooler air will also move in behind the front. We will remain dry through the middle of the week, but more rain expected as we get closer to the weekend.
