Winter Weather Advisory for North Georgia | News
A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect for parts of north Georgia from noon Saturday through 7am on Sunday. A fast moving area of moisture will move through north Georgia late afternoon into evening. That system will produce some light rain in the Atlanta area. In north Georgia, we will have a few snow flurries. This isn't going to be a major system. In fact, we expect up to an inch of snow possible in the mountains. The counties included in the advisory are: Murray, Fannin, Gilmer, Union and Towns.
Temperatures at the surface this afternoon will be above freezing in the mountains. Any snow that falls won't cause any major travel problems there. Just watch for some slick spots possible on the mountain roads. More slick spots could develop tonight at temps fall to near freezing.
The moisture will move out quickly. The rain/snow will end late tonight and clear out by morning.
