Update On Flooded Rivers/Creeks in Georgia | News
(WXIA) -- The Chattooga River near Summerville is already above flood stage, and now it is less than a foot below moderate flood stage. It is expected to crest just below moderate flood stage, but could rise again as more rain moves in on Wednesday/Thursday.
At 3am, the Armuchee Creek just north of Rome was recorded at 19.9 Feet. Flood stage is 19.0. Only minor flooding in the woodlands, and a few fields and pastures expected at this time.
The Oostanaula River near Calhoun as of 4am the stage was 20.7 Feet and Rising. 20.0 Feet is flood stage and only minor flooding is forecast.
The Conasauga River north of Calhoun is only inches away from flood stage, and will eventually crest just below 22 feet. This graph (seen above) shows purple dots of the forecasted rise over the next four days.
Lookout Creek, West Chickamauga Creek, and Coahulla Creek are also dealing with minor flooding, and will be watched over the next 24 hours to see if they have any significant rises in some spots.
