The rain is moving in to NW Georgia. Radar shows some moderate and even heavy rain moving through the northwest corner of the state. This same band of rain dumped more than an inch of rain over parts of north Alabama. There is a flood watch in effect for NW Georgia. The watch includes Chattooga, Dade, Walker, Catoosa, Whitfield and Murray counties. This is just the beginning of more than that will moving in. Parts of NW Georgia could see between 2-3 inches of rain this week.
This rain will continue pushing toward metro Atlanta late tonight and during the overnight hours. Now that the rain is moving in, it's going to stick around for a while. Check out the potential rain totals that we will see through Tuesday. The metro area could see between 1 and 2 inches through Tuesday. This rain will continue off and on through Wednesday. We will have a break early Thursday before another area of rain comes in late Thursday night into Friday.
After a very warm weekend, temps will return to the 50s this week. We broke the record high yesterday. Today, we were 4 degrees away from the record with a high of 72. Monday will be in the 60s, then 50s return for the rest of the week.
We won't see any severe weather with this rain. The main focus will be to keep an eye on the rain totals since this system will stall out and linger over us for a while.
