More Warm Air-Rain on the Way | News
After record breaking heat on Saturday, we will be just shy of a record today. The record high for today's date is 76 degrees set in 1932. We are forecasting a high of 72 today. We will still be 20 degrees above the average. The average high for this time of year is 52!
We are also watching the rain that will be moving in. It's a pretty good line of rain that is still well to the west. It is a slow mover. We will mainly have a good coverage of clouds today with a few peeks of sunshine here and there. Later tonight, the rain will begin to move in. The showers will get a little more numerous overnight into Monday. Our best rain chances are on Monday and Tuesday. We've updated the extended outlook now to keep these showers lingering with us Wednesday and ending on Thursday. Parts of north Georgia could see 2 to 3 inches of rain this week. The metro area is more likely to see between 1 and 2 inches of rain through Thursday.
The temperatures will also cool back down. The rain will help to cool us down Monday with a high around 60s. We head back to highs in the 50s for the rest of the week. Morning lows will get back to the 30s by Friday and Saturday. That will finally feel more like January!
