Atlanta Weather | New Record Snow | News
It is very rare to see snow here in GA, but not out of the question. We have not received any so far this season, but many other area have, prompting a new record for the widest coverage of snow in the U. S. seen on January 1st in the past ten years (see graphic below).
The previous record was set in 2010, when the new year saw 61 percent of the U.S. beneath snow. That same season could be remembered by a blizzard nicknamed 'Snowmageddon,' in the mid-Atlantic, which set a long list of records in cities such as Philadelphia, DC and Baltimore.
In February of the same year we received a good amount of snow in North and Central Ga. (see graphic below) Could this be a sign of snow coming back to the metro area again this year??????? Time will tell, stay tuned to the forecast.
