Temperatures are falling quickly. At 9pm, it's 38 degrees in Atlanta with a wind chill of 29. We are headed to our coldest night and morning so far of the season. Our temperatures will continue to fall overnight. By morning, we will hit 28 in Atlanta. Outside the city, we will have a lot of mid 20s. This is some of the coldest air that we've seen so far this season. Our coldest temperature so far this season in Atlanta has been 30 degrees on November 25th.
We still have a wind tonight, but it is slowly decreasing in intensity. We will average winds of about 10-20mph this evening, then more like 10-15mph winds by morning. Our wind chill in the morning will be in the teens. The wind advisory has expired for Atlanta. However, the advisory is still in effect for the mountain counties in northeast Georgia. Winds will continue to be strong there overnight. The advisory will expire at 7am Saturday as the wind starts to die out a little more.
Temperatures on Sunday rebound up to 58 by afternoon. Then get ready for some moisture to return. We will have a few showers Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. Our best chance for rain will be on Wednesday. There is even the potential for a few thunderstorms.
