9pm Temp Check-Colder Air Moving in | News
Temperatures are falling tonight. Take a look at the 9pm temperatures on the map. They range from the 70s in Florida to the 20s in Kansas and Missouri. They will continue to drop quickly for the rest of the night into the morning. The cold front has pushed the rain well to the south and east and is now bringing in the cold air and wind. The wind is beginning to whip up from the northwest. It will blow in between 15-25mph tonight. Tomorrow, our wind will be blowing from the NW at 20-30mph with some higher gusts between 40 and 45mph. There is a wind advisory in effect through Friday evening.
I mentioned in the earlier blog to be sure and secure your outdoor Christmas and holiday decorations or they might end up in the neighbors' yards! I have already been hearing some chatter on Facebook and Twitter from folks saying they have heard some limbs snapping and pinecones falling. Temperatures by morning will be down to 30 degrees in the city with 20s outside the city. When you factor in the wind, it will feel like it's in the teens Friday morning.
We will have plenty of sunshine Friday, but temperatures won't really rebound very quickly. Our high temp on Friday will only top off at 46. Saturday morning will start in the 20s with afternoon highs back to the lower 50s. Sunday will be the best day of the next 5 days. It wll be mostly sunny with a high in the upper 50s.
More clouds build in on Christmas Eve with a few light showers. The rain chance goes up to 40% on Christmas Day, then 60% on the day after Christmas.
