Secure your outdoor decorations-WINDY tonight and Friday | News
If you don't secure your outdoor Christmas and holiday decorations, your neighbors might think they are a gift from you when they blow into their yard! Now that the rain has moved out, the cold and and wind is moving in. We have a wind advisory in effect for tonight through Friday evening. The wind will begin to whip up from the northwest at 20-30mph. We will have some gusts to between 40 and 45mph. Those winds can blow over Christmas inflatables, decorations, and even blow wreaths off of your house. You may want to make sure they are secure before the strongest wind gets here. We will have winds around 20-25mph this evening. The stronger wind will be Friday afternoon when it's closer to 30mph.
That wind is bringing in some much colder air. Temperatures will drop sharply tonight. We will be in the upper 30s by 9pm. We go down to 30 by Friday morning. It will feel even colder than that thanks to the wind. Our wind chill will be in the teens Friday morning. It doesn't warm too much Friday afternoon. The wind will continue to whip up with a high of only 46.
We even have the chance of a few flurries in the north Georgia mountains tonight. As the cold air blows in, it will squeeze out any remaining moisture in the air in the form of some blowing flurries. We aren't expecting any accumulations or problems on the roads. I had a good question on my Facebook page earlier from someone asking if the water left on the road would freeze up overnight. The wind and dry air moving in overnight will help all of that moisture to evaporate quickly during the overnight hours.
