Atlanta Weather | Tuesday Evening Weather | News
As I have been going over the daily model data I have thought it is pretty ironic that our first really big cool down will happen around Christmas time this year! So far for this December we have been a well above the average in terms of temps. Typically we see an average temp up to this point in the month of 55 when you look at the average temp for the entire day. This December we are averaging around 64 which is big time for warmth! Since I am a firm believer in the law of averages I do believe we need to go the other way to average us out, that time is coming!
Rain And a Few Storms Thursday
A very strong cold front will approach the state Thursday and bring us another shot of rainfall, we could see a few storms but I am not expecting anything severe. The main reason for the lack of severe weather is again that mini wedge that will keep our temps cool as that cold front approaches. Look for the rain to start around 11am and last through the evening rush hour, some periods of the rain could be a bit on the heavy side. The metro area could see around an inch of rain again. Then comes the cold.......
Cold Air Coming
Once that front moves through we are going to see a major shot of cold air move into the n Georgia area! We could easily see temps go from the 60's in the late morning hours to the upper 30's by around 8-9pm! By Friday morning our temps will be in the mid to upper 20's across the entire metro area and highs that afternoon will not even make it into the upper 40's! The cool air will last through the weekend which will set the stage for next week!
That is not the only blast of cold air that is going to be heading in this direction, late next week we could see another even colder system come down and bring our highs into the 30's!! As for Christmas day it looks to be cool and cloudy with a slight chance of rain!
