East Coast "Bomb"

The upper level system that moved through N Georgia earlier today and brought us rain is now moving off the NC coast and will do what we are meteorologists call "Bomb". According to us weather geeks the definition of a "Bomb" in the world of weather is:

  • Bomb - When a storm deepens in pressure over 24 millibars in 24 hours it is considered to be "Bombing". When this happens the winds can get very strong around that system as it intensifies rapidly.

So as this storm moves up the east coast and deepens rapidly, folks in the New England area, especially along the coast, are going to see winds in excess of 60mph with seas at around 20ft!!! Plus, there is a stretch from NJ all the way through NH that will see 6-12 inches of snow!!!

Snow For N Georgia??

As a secondary system rounds the turn tomorrow morning, the air at around 2-4000 ft will cool enough to allow some of the rain to turn into a few flakes of snow across parts of the N Georgia area. It will be north of the metro area, but counties as far south as Dawson, Pickens, and even parts of N Hall county could see a flurry of snow tomorrow during the morning hours! I am not expecting any accumulations, but if there are any changes I will of course let you know!

There are some more chances in the long range forecast, I will have an update on this later tonight. Remember I am always tracking the weather on my facebook page, come join the 8000+ fans that get all kinds of weather and other stuff: MIKE'S FACEBOOK PAGE.
