Watching Storms in Tennessee and North Alabama | News
We are watching this line of storms in Tennessee and North Alabama. The line is moving toward the southeast. This line has some pockets of heavy rain and thunderstorm activity in it. It even prompted some severe thunderstorms with hail back in Memphis. These storms have been weakening as they move to the south and east. They still have some thunder and lightning as the cross into north Alabama, but they are well below the criteria to be classified as severe.
We expect this weakening trend to continue as the storms get closer to northwest Georgia. A few showers will hold together as they enter the state, but they will fall apart as they move closer to Atlanta. The Storm Prediction Center is also watching these storms. They issued a statement saying that it is "unlikely" that these storms would prompt any type of severe weather watch.
I will be tracking these storms for you tonight on The Rundown at 10pm on WATL and on 11Alive at 11pm.
