Fall Color Update for North Georgia

This is going to be a great weekend to drive up to north Georgia to check out the leaf colors.  We are beginning to see some peak colors in the highest elevations of north Georgia.  The Georgia Forrestry Commission reports a lot of color change is occurring now.  They report the highest elevations have about 50 to 70% color change.  In the lower elevations, the color change is at about 30%.  This is the beginning of the peak time.

The leaves need cool crisp nights and bright sunny afternoons in order for the colors to pop.  That's exactly what we are going to have over the next few days.  The peak conditions will continue getting even better over the next week into next weekend.

Closer to metro Atlanta, we are beginning to see more color around.  It will still be a few weeks before the color peaks here.

It will be nice and cool this weekend with below average temperatures today, then right on our average high for Sunday in the low 70s.  It will get much warmer this week.  We will have temperatures nearing the 80s degree mark by mid week.

Enjoy your leaf watching!
