The Weekend
For tomorrow a cold front will slowly move into the state from the north and increase the chance of rain the in the afternoon hours. Notice below that the instability for tomorrow will be a bit high in the afternoon, but the thing lacking for tomorrow afternoon will be the lack of shear. Most of the upper energy that is required for tornadoes and intense severe weather will be well to our north. So tomorrow afternoon while we will see a few storms, some even on the severe side, a widespread outbreak is not likely. The main threat for tomorrow will be some gusty winds as the storms move along the cold front.
Sunday will be much cooler with cloudy skies and temps starting out in the lower 60's, highs will struggle to make it into the mid 70's by the afternoon. Then late that night we will see that disturbance from the gulf that will start to move in. We could see some storms develop late Sunday night.
Monday and Heavy Rain
First and foremost there is a threat for severe weather Monday as this thing swings out. Notice below the instability for Monday is rather high as most of the upper energy is moving in from the SW. This is the same direction that the last system came in from that prompted the SPC to issue the tornado watch that was not even warranted.... None the less, this system could be a problem late in the day on Monday as it moves in. Severe weather and the potential for heavy rain is possible.
