Showers Closing in on Atlanta

We've been tracking some showers that have been moving from the southwest to the northeast from the LaGrange area first, then up to Coweta county, south Fulton county now closing in on Atlanta.  These are some light showers mixed in with moderate rain and some smaller areas of heavy rain.  This cluster is moving to the NE at 15mph.  This motion would spread some of this rain over Turner Field between 9:40 and 9:55 if it holds together.

We've had a few scattered showers around the area today.  The showers have been the "hit and miss" variety.  Some folks haven't seen a drop of rain today, while others have seen some pretty good rain.  We will continue to see these scattered showers off and on in the area through Monday.  The main area of rain is still well out to the west.  It is that main area of rain that will move in late Monday into early Tuesday.  That is the part of the system that will give us the potential of some heavy rain at times.  I am still going with some rainfall totals Monday and Tuesday between 1 and 2 inches.  Parts of north west Georgia have the potential of seeing more than 2 inches.

The rain will push to the east during the day Tuesday.  As the rain exits, cooler air will move in.  We will have morning temps Wednesday and Thursday in the upper 50s in the city with afternoon highs in the upper 80s.
