Waiting for Some Storms to Develop | News
Keep an eye on radar this afternoon. We will be watching for some showers and thunderstorms to develop. A weakening cold front is moving closer to north Georgia this afternoon. You can see on the radar image below that the rain and storms in association with it to the north is not too impressive. As we get more heating today ahead of this front, we will watch for some storms to develop. The timing would be late afternoon into the evening hours.
The Storm Prediction Center has us in the "slight" risk category for severe t-storms. The main threats would be pockets of heavy rain, intense lightning, strong winds and possibly some small hail. The air will become a little more unstable this afternoon to sustain the development of some scattered showers.
The rain chance is at 40%. Some of us will get through the day with no rain at all. But, in those areas where the storms develop, we could see some good rainfall.
Mike will continue monitoring this for you this afternoon. More info as the showers and tstorms develop a little later.
