Storms Slow to Start Today | News
The afternoon storms are slow to start this afternoon. Check out the 4pm radar image that shows dry weather around metro Atlanta. A few showers have been developing in northeast Georgia in the mountains. Additional showers have been in central Georgia this afternoon.
Just because they are slow to start, it doesn't mean that they won't develop at all. We still expect scattered showers to develop late afternoon and into the evening hours. I don't think they will be as widespread today as they have been the past few days. We still have the potential for the storms to develop, but they are on a little later timeline.
The main threat from the ones that do develop will be pockets of heavy rain, lightning, gusty winds and some small hail. The ones that develop will be slow to move, but they will have a movement going slowly toward the south and east today.
We continue with this pattern of afternoon and evening t-storms to develop as we head into the weekend.
