A little "cool" relief! | News
It's a little weird to celebrate "only" getting up to 93 degrees today! But when you compare it to what we went through this weekend, today's high of 93 was some cool relief. We experienced the hottest weekend on record for the city of Atlanta with highs up to 106 degrees. Today was 13 degrees cooler! The record for today's date is 99 set in 1954. That date will stay in the record books for at least another year.
Even though we are enjoying the "cooler" high today, it is still above the average. Our average high for today's date is 89. So we were 4 degrees above average today.
It looks like we are finished with the triple digit heat for a while. Highs this week will hold in the mid 90s. We will still be above average, but not too far off from typical July weather.
We need some rain. The chances for rain each afternoon and evening will be about 30%. Right now we are 6.20 inches below normal in rainfall. The type of showers we expect this week are the ones that just bubble up in the heat and humidity. Hopefully one will bubble up over my lawn!
