Another record breaking day: More triple digit heat | News
After breaking the record for the all time hottest day in Atlanta yesterday, we will break another record today. The record in jeopardy today is the high temp for today's date. The hottest we've ever been on July 1 is 99 degrees in 1954. We will break that record when we move up to 103 this afternoon. It will be about 3 degrees lower than it was on Saturday.
There is a heat advisory in effect through tonight. There is an excessive heat warning in effect for areas to the east of Atlanta. Temps will be a little lower on Monday as highs go back to the upper 90s. We are also going to see a little better chance for some afternoon showers to pop up mainly in the late afternoon and evening hours for the week ahead.
It looks like it will be warm and muggy Wednesday morning for the AJC Peachtree Road Race. We expect morning temperatures around 75 degrees. Those temps will move up quickly during the morning. Afternoon highs on the Fourth will be around 94. Still a chance of some late day pop up showers.
