Hottest Day Ever in Atlanta? | News
Title (Max 100 Characters)
It may be hotter in Atlanta today than it's ever been before. The hottest Atlanta temperature was in July of 1980 when it was 105 degrees. We are forecasting a high of 106 this afternoon. If we hit 106, that will be the hottest we've ever been here in Atlanta.
That's not the only record in this heat. Yesterday, we broke a record high when it got up to 104. We will definitely have another daily record today. We expect to break record highs for Sunday and Monday, too.
Here's a look at the daily records:
Saturday- Record is 98 Forecast is 106.
Sunday-Record is 99 Forecast is 103.
Monday-Record is 99 Forecast is 101.
Another record in jeopardy is the stretch off days in a row of 100 degree-plus heat. Back in 1980 and again in 2007, Atlanta had 4 days in a row with temperatures at 100 degrees or above. We started our triple digit heat on Friday at 104. We expect 100 degree-plus heat again today, Sunday and Monday. That would be another 4 days in a row with temps at 100 or above. That would tie the record.
