N. Ga. Storms update and Tropical Storm Alberto Update | News
Our high today was 82 degrees in Atlanta. It was beautiful here, but just up the road in north Georgia, we had some severe thunderstorms. Those storms produced hail in Pickens county. We had severe tstorm warnings in effect earlier for Pickens, Gilmer, Dawson, Cherokee, and Gordon Counties. These storms will diminish this evening.
We will have another nice day Sunday. There is a chance a few storms will redevelop mainly to the north. We will have an enhanced easterly flow rotating around Tropical Storm Alberto on the South Carolina coast. That easterly flow will help to kick up a few showers along the Appalachian Mountains. Alberto has now increased in strength with 60mph winds.
Our next rain chance comes in on Tuesday. It's not a huge chance for showers. We are only talking about a 20-30% chance. Temps will get a little warmer for the week ahead. By Thursday, our highs will be near 87.
