Nine inches of snow falls in West Virginia

The folks up in West Virginia are ENJOYING an early look at winter!  The folks behind the Snowshoe Mountain Resort's Twitter account said today that as much as nine inches of snow fell this weekend!

For the most part, it sounds like the folks up there are excited about the early snowfall, hoping its a sign of a snowy winter for a region that depends on winter sports tourism.

Snowshoe Mountain Resort is actually on Cheat Mountain.  The peak of the mountain is 4,848 feet above sea level.  The mountain has 60 snow trails and averages 180 inches of snow every year, according to Wikipedia.

But, winter weather fans shouldn't get too excited yet.  High temperatures at Snowshoe are forecasted to climb into the 60s by mid-week, with plenty of sunshine.
