ATLANTA – There are tons of fun events going on this weekend, in your area. We’ve listed a few of them for you to check out with your family and friends.

SPACE ATLANTA will host the West End BeltLine Open Air Market on Friday from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. The Green Market in Southwest Atlanta is located in the historic West End area; it features local vendors, farmers and gardeners. The market will be held in the parking lot of SPACE Atlanta Restaurant. SPACE Atlanta is located at 1310 White Street in Atlanta.

The Ribs and Rolling BQQ Event will be held at the Kiwanis Fairground in Griffin on August 20 from 9:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m. The cook-off and car show will host between thirty to fifty professional cook teams. The Jonesmen, The Songsmen, By Grace, The Carters and other acts will be performing at the fairground. The Kiwanis Fairground is located at 1025 S. Hill Street in Griffin.

The inaugural Piedmont Park Summer Arts and Crafts Festival will be held on Saturday, August 20 from 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. The event will feature a number of painters, photographers, sculptors, metalworkers, glass blowers and other crafter. Also at the event, there will be “festival foods” and other healthy alternatives. Piedmont Park is located at 10th and Monroe Drive in Atlanta.

Fernbank Museum will be hosting their Dinosaur Birthday Bash Weekend at Fernbank. The celebration lasts two days and “BIGGER THAN EVER”. The museum will be celebrating the 10th anniversary of their dinosaurs. The birthday bash will include puppet shows, hands-on activities and other dinosaur themed fun. The event will be held at 767 Clifton Road in Atlanta from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m.

 Design Within Reach is hosting the Peachtree Hills Park Art Festival on Saturday, August 20 from noon until 6:00 p.m. This event will feature works by local Atlanta artists and it supports efforts by the Friends of Peachtree Hill Parks to promote, develop and improve Peachtree Hills Park for the community. Design Within Reach is 2451 Peachtree Road in Atlanta.

The East Atlanta Village is hosting their NOPHEST Summer Music Festival from August 25-28. The festival, in its fifth year, is a showcase for up-and-coming talent and left-field experimentalism in music and art. Tickets are $7.50 for a day pass and $15.00 for a full weekend. Gwinnett County is hosting their “A Healthier You” Health Fair at the Gwinnett Technical College in Lawrenceville. Gwinnett County is inviting all residents to join them for free screenings, info booths, breast cancer, BMI analysis and door prizes. Gwinnett Tech is located at 5150 Sugarloaf Parkway in Lawrenceville.

The world’s largest folk art show, the 18th Annual Slotin Folk Fest and Sale is hosting 100 galleries & dealers from around the nation specializing in “self-taught art, outsider art, folk art and southern folk pottery & anonymous antique folk art”. This event is considered one of the top folk art festivals in the nation, and draws over 25,000 attendees over the weekend. The festival is held at 1700 Jeurgens Court in Norcross.

Fayette Grandparents and Kin Raising Children are hosting a workshop on Thursday, August 18 at the Fayette Seventh Day Adventist Church. Judge Anne Jackson of Fayette Probate Court is hosting this workshop for those interested in information and guidance on relatives gaining guardianship or custody of related children. The workshop is presented with support from the GA Department of Human Services and the Promoting Safe and Stable Families Network. RSVP or receive more information by emailing at gkrc2011@gmail.com.
