ATLANTA-- It's a well-deserved promotion and a dream come true for a Meteorologist who has lived his whole life in Georgia. Effective immediately Chris Holcomb has been named Chief Meteorologist and will lead the Weather Information Zone at 11Alive.

Chris has been predicting Georgia weather for 26 years. His first job was in Macon Georgia after graduating from UGA In 1991, 23 years ago, Chris started forecasting at 11Alive. Throughout those 23 years he has helped keep us safe through tornadoes, snow, and ice storms.

He is a four time Southeast Emmy Award winner for best Weathercaster and two time Gabby winner for best weathercast.

"Chris's passion and knowledge make him absolutely the best person on earth to lead our team!" 11Alive News Director, Ellen Crooke said.

Chris was born at Emory hospital, grew up in DeKalb County, and is now raising his family in Gwinnett County. Chris is married to Angie, his wife of twenty three years and has a 19 year old son and a 15 year old daughter.

Chris said," This has been a dream of mine since I met legendary weathercaster. Guy Sharpe, as a child in the grocery store. I promise that after working so hard for this job and promotion I will not let Metro Atlanta down. I will be here to keep you safe."

President & General Manager John Deushane noted, "Chris has been a leader and innovator within our weather department for years. His promotion is well deserved and his decades of forecasting the weather in Atlanta will ensure our viewers they're always informed of both pending inclement conditions and the optimal day to plan a family reunion."
