Weekend Weather Outlook

It won't be a weekend washout!  Showers are on the way though.  Look for off and on light showers Saturday, then a better coverage of showers on Sunday.  Still watching the potential for t-storms by mid week.  I'll have more on the blog a little later.

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (AP) - Actor Charlie Sheen has donated $25,000 to help tornado relief in Alabama, making good on a promise to help survivors of the deadly twisters.

The head of Tuscaloosa's tourism agency, Don Staley, says Sheen gave money that came though his fundraising website.

Sheen visited Tuscaloosa after the April 27 twisters and talked about staging a relief show and celebrity ball game to raise funds. Staley says those plans didn't materialize, but the actor donated the money shortly before Thanksgiving.

Some people criticized Sheen for coming to Alabama after his firing from the hit CBS show "Two and a Half Men," and some in Tuscaloosa didn't expect him to follow through on his promises. Staley says Sheen gave the money without making any public announcement and just wants to help.

Soggy Weekend Ahead

We started this week’s blog with the words Cold, Cold, Cold! Today we are ending the week with Mild, Mild, Mild. Temperatures have been gradually rebounding, now above average (52).

It looks like the mild temps will stick around through the weekend, and into the beginning of next week. Unfortunately, the mild temps will be accompanied by clouds and rain. Thunderstorms are a possibility by Tuesday.

We were 10 degree above average today!  Our high was 62 degrees this afternoon.  The average high for today's date is 52.  Everybody who was wishing for warmer air earlier in the week when we were waking up with temps in the 20s got their wish!  The milder air will stick with us for a while and the moisture will move in, too.

It won't be a rainout or a weekend washout.  We will have a few off and on light showers Saturday and Sunday.  There will be plenty of dry hours, too.  High temperatures will also stay in the 60s.  The front moving in will stall out keeping waves of moisture moving over the southeast into next week.

It gets tricky as a more vigorous area of low pressure develops and moves along the stalled out front late Tuesday and early Wednesday.  Some of the ingredients are coming together in the computer models to suggest the chance for some thunderstorms.

They will linger with us for a while into next week.  We are even watching the potential for some thunderstorms Tuesday night into Wednesday.

I'll have more later!
