Winter Is Back

Very cold air has moved back into our area. Temperatures in many spot are starting off in the 20s. When you factor in the winds, you get a windchill temperatures in the teens. Light snow and flurries will continue during the morning in the North GA Mountains.
We will have mostly sunny skies this afternoon, but it remains cold. Highs will be around 42.
Mostly sunny skies for the weekend, and temps will gradually warm up to the low 50s.

Snow in Far NE Georgia Possible Tomorrow Night, Cold in the Metro

Short Term

We are going to cool it down big time tonight. Clouds have already rolled out ahead of schedule and temps in the big city are already below freezing! Tomorrow looks cool, but increasing clouds late in the day will make it feel cooler. There will be lots of sunshine early off, so outside thing that need to get done would be best around noon. It will be cool, but there will be sun.

Snow Possible Near Clayton Tomorrow Night

The video spells it out great, but for those who want to read and not watch there is a clipper coming in from the NW that will move through the NC mountains and kick back a bit of snow fluries tomorrow night in far NE Georgia. I am talking mainly clayton to Hiawassee. Metro Atlanta will see nothing out of this, just a few clouds.

My Thoughts

Milton and McEachern top the new Metro Atlanta Super 25

ATLANTA -- There is a change at the top of the USA Today-HighSchoolSports.net Super 25 polls for Metro Atlanta this week.

The Milton replaces Columbia at the top of the Boys poll. McEachern remains at the top of the Girls Poll.

Hard Freeze Tonight & More Rain Tomorrow??

Hard Freeze Tonight & More Rain Tomorrow??

HARD FREEZE TONIGHT??

Ok, so first of all lets just get the confusion out of the way..... What exactly is a hard freeze? Well the definition of a hard freeze is when the temps get down to 26 degrees and stay there for at least 4 hours. There is that chancee tonight, one minor thing might get in the way and that is the cloud cover that has been moving in the last few hours over the state, check out the vis sat down below. Just in the last few hours some clouds have been developing ahead of a disturbance coming in from Oklahoma, so it is all dependant on whether these clouds burn go away or build in.... I think they build in in far N Georgia, but across most of metro Atlanta they will be sparse, then clear out by around 2am. This should allow our temps to hit 26 for exactly 4 hours. Will see....

RAIN TOMORROW NIGHT??

Snow Out West in Bartow and Floyd Counties, but it's the Wind!

The Snow Gets The Headlines

Snow will continue to try to make it into the metro, but I still think this batch up here disipates before making into Atlanta. Again, N Cobb, N Fulton have the potential to see a few flakes as we have seen a few here and there across the north metro.

The Wind is the Big Story

We already have had reports of power outages in Woodstock and a few other locations. The wind will continue to blow around 35-40 mph tonight! Check out some of the wind gusts down below!! The good news is that the winds should slowly subside by the early morning hours across the state and we won't have as bad of gusts. The winds will still be up big time tomorrow, but nowhere near as bad as they are tonight.

There is another batch of snow in Alabama that will be moving in over the next few hours and we could see a dusting to a bit more in the N Georgia mountains.
