Atlanta Weather | Rain and Possible Storms End of Week

Atlanta Weather | Rain and Possible Storms End of Week

Short Term

Perfect weather is in store for us tonight and for the most part of tomorrow. Skies tonight will be clear as a bell so if there area any Northern Lights in N Georgia we will be able to see them later tonight! Temps overnight fall into the mid and lower 40's with light winds from the NW at 3-6mph. Tomorrow we will have lots of sunshine in the morning, but we will start seeing an increase in the clouds by late in the afternoon. Temps tomorrow will be in the mid to lower 60's with light winds from the NE at 10-14.

Thursday and Friday

Sunny Skies Again

Dense fog around this morning thanks to low level moisture in the area. Drier air will continue to work in behind a cold front that is just to our south. The dry air will bring the sunshine for this afternoon. Temperatures will stay mild (in the mid 60s).

Short Term
Don’t get too use to the sunny, mild weather. An area of low pressure is forming in southern Texas that will move toward us and will bring an increase in clouds over night.

Our chances for rain will increase Wednesday with the best chance on Thursday night. A cold front will approach bringing a good chance for heavy showers and thunderstorms. Temps will remain mild (in the 60s) for the rest of the week. Cooler air will arrive just in time for the weekend.

Atlanta Weather | Severe Weather Later This Week??

Atlanta Weather | Severe Weather Later This Week??

Short Term

Dense fog advisory is in effect through 1am tomorrow but I have a good feeling that it will be extended through the late morning hours. I am pretty sure the fog won't burn off until the late morning hours. Temps will be on the cool side with mid to lower 40's in the forecast for tomorrow morning. Once the fog burns off the temps will go all the way into the middle 60's!! Spring is here and it is only January!! Tomorrow and Wednesday will be in the mid 60's with partly cloudy skies.

Northern Lights??

There is a tiny tiny chance that the northern lights might come far south again tomorrow night from a giant CME (Coronal Mass Ejection). Remember seeing the northern lights in N Georgia a few months ago?? This is what we might get to see if we clear out and I think we do so tomorrow night will be a great night for stargazing!

Severe Weather Friday??

Atlanta Weather | Dense Fog Advisory

Atlanta Weather | Dense Fog Advisory

Short Term

This is what it looks like across most of N Georgia tonight, this was sent in via twitter..... it is from Chris H from Buckhead and it is pea soup city!! So we are under a dense fog advisory until 1am tomorrow. Basically the fog is so thick from all the rain we had along with a stalled out front that is parked in central N Georgia that is won't go away until late tomorrow morning. As a matter of fact I think the NWS will be extending the advisory through mid morning tomorrow. This is going to put a big cramp in trying to see any northern lights tonight. The good news is that the skies should be partly cloudy tomorrow night so most of us can get out and try to see the lights..... We are just so far south that it will be hard to see them, we should all try though.

Atlanta Weather | Will We See the Sun Tomorrow?

Atlanta Weather | Will We See the Sun Tomorrow?

Short Term

The weather for the remainder of the afternoon will be cloudy and a bit cool for the metro Atlanta area. Visible satellite is showing clearing skies to our west so you folks in Rome and Carrollton will see a bit of the sun this afternoon. For the metro area we should go to cl earning skies by around 7-8pm tonight, but with all the rain we had there is a good chance we will have some pretty dense fog develop in the overnight hours. We will see mainly sunny skies tomorrow with winds from the WNW at around 10-18mph. The thing about tomorrow is this: since there was no cold air behind this system our temps will actually go up tomorrow, into the mid 60's. With the chance of northern lights over the next few nights the big question is will it be clear tomorrow night..... The answer is kinda... we will see a  few clouds around tomorrow night but there will be more clear skies than cloudy skies.

Mid Term

Atlanta Weather | Tornado Watch Cancelled

Atlanta Weather | Tornado Watch Cancelled

Short Term

The tornado watch has been cancelled for all of N Georgia this afternoon. Rain will continue to push off to the south east and leave behind a cool and cloudy day. Temps this afternoon will be in the mid 50's.
