Atlanta Weather | Where is Winter!?!?!

General Beauregard Lee came out of his little house, looked around for his shadow, couldn't find it so declared winter to be over!!! If this is winter then spring might be a problem because mama nature always balances herself! Just sayin, that is always what happens when you have an extreme in one direction..... mama Nature always makes a correction.. I have nothing to back that up, just a bit of insight into my head and how it thinks. We might get a cold snap if my gut is right....

Short Term

Tonight looks great with 60's continuing through 6-7pm and then slowly falling into the 50's by around 10pm. Tomorrow morning will be a bit cooler than this morning with morning temps starting out in the lower 40's with the light north winds and clear skies. Tomorrow will be gorgeous with temps in the lower 60's and sunny skies!

WEATHER | Pa. groundhog 'predicts' 6 more weeks of winter

PUNXSUTAWNEY, Pa. (AP) - Pennsylvania's Punxsutawney Phil emerged from his lair to "see" his shadow on Thursday, in the process predicting six more weeks of winter.

But, at this rate, that might not be so bad.

The groundhog made his "prediction" on Gobbler's Knob, a tiny hill in the town for which he's named about 65 miles northeast of Pittsburgh.

Drying Skies Today

Mostly cloudy skies as you make your way to work and school this morning. Roadway will be a little wet for last night showers. Skies will gradually clear as we head into the afternoon. Look for sunshine to breakout this afternoon. Highs will be in the close to 70. Expect more sun on Friday, but clouds will increase late afternoon as the next system move in. We will have a slight chance for showers Friday evening.

Long Term

Rain will be moving in for the weekend. Mostly cloudy skies both Saturday and Sunday. Temps will be slightly cooler on Saturday thanks to a wedge allowing cooler air seep south. But temperatures will get back into the 60s on Sunday.

Storms Tonight? Rain Chances Again this Weekend?

Yeah yeah yeah, I know what you are saying... enough already Francis! The wild thing is that with mother nature is either off (as it was all summer into late November) or it is full blown on (like Dec 1 until now). From August through December 1st we saw around 8 inches of rain give or take a few here and there depending on where you live. Since December 1st we have seen 10 inches!! We are slowly coming out of the drought as we head into the wettest time of the year! On or off...

Short Term

There are storms in Alabama that are trying to make it here but I think by the overnight period we will watch the storms weaken as they get into lower levels of instability. There could be a few light showers overnight but by morning we will be just cloudy with temps in the 50's. Tomorrow afternoon will be sunny and nice with a high in the upper 60's.

Weekend Term

Atlanta Weather | Rain Coming to an End

Short term

Rain is winding down across metro Atlanta this evening. There are still some light showers out to the east of the city, mainly Dekalb, Gwinett, and Walton counties. Motion is towards the east at around 30mph and nothing is severe. Temps will slowly cool down into the 50's throughout the evening.

Atlanta Weather | A Rainy Wednesday Evening

Short Term

Weather this evening will continue to be wet with a big batch of rain moving through as we speak. The good news is that nothing is severe and it wil move through quickly. Temps will actutually stay in the 60's for a bit then go back into the 50's overnight. If you are still at work there will be a longer than normal commute thanks to the rain.

Next Few Days

We are in store for some very warm weather again for this time of year. Tomorrow will be very mild with highs in the 60's and sunny skies by the aftrernoon hours. Friday will be above normal as well with temps in the 60's.
