Don't rush out for milk and bread!  There is only a slim chance of a few flurries in the north Georgia mountains Sunday evening.  This light rain that is ending over the area will move out at the same time some colder air moves in.  That colder air will squeeze out any remaining moisture from those clouds in the form of some light rain mixing in at times with a few flurries.  Those flurries will only occur in the higher elevations of the north Georgia mountains.  Even in the mountains, the temperature profiles are only marginal for the chance for some flurries.  If any do fall at all, we aren't expecting any accumulations.

The picture above shows the potential snow accumulations for areas just to our north.  East Tennessee, West Virginia, Virginia and parts of North Carolina will see some snow accumulations.  Some areas will have as much as 2 to 3 inches.

The rain will stick around for a big part of the day Sunday.  It will gradually taper off late in the afternoon.  We've picked up around a half inch of rain so far in the Atlanta area.  More will add up to between 1 and 2 inches before it ends.

The severe weather stays to the south.  Our main risk here won't be from damaging winds or tornadoes.  Our main threat will be the impressive rainfall amounts.

The rain moved in today from the SW toward the NE.  There is plenty of light rain around mixing in with some areas of moderate rain.  There will be some pockets of heavy rain at times, too.

The threat for severe weather remains well to the south.  There may be a few rumbles of thunder and flashes of lightning here, but any damaging winds or severe storms will be to the south.

The main threat will be some heavy rain.  Check the video to see the graphic for rain potential.  Areas north of I-20 could see around an inch or more of rain.  To the south, there may be some spots that pick up between 2 and 3 inches of rain.
