More Clouds and a few light Showers Overnight

It's not a major rain event.  Just expect a few more clouds to build in overnight with a few light showers developing in spots by Monday morning.

It won't be a lot of rain.  Just be prepared for some damp roads in some areas Monday morning.  The light showers will end early Monday with clouds slow to break.  We will see a little sun break through later Monday afternoon.

We are still watching the potential for a better coverage of showers Wednesday.  Right now, the threat for severe weather looks low.  We will monitor this if there are any changes.

The weather video has a timeline for you.

Another Chance to see the Moon, Jupiter and Venus Tonight!

The sun will set tonight at 6:31.  Once it gets a little darker, look to the western sky to see the crescent moon.  The bright light under the moon is Venus. You will see another bright light a little above and to the left of the moon.  That is Jupiter.  It will look a little different tonight than it did last night.

If you saw it last night, check it out again since it will appear a little differently.  If you missed it last night, check it out again.  There will be more clouds Monday night, so visibility may not be that great.

See the video explanation attached!

Another Chance to See the Moon, Venus and Jupiter tonight!

Another Chance to See the Moon, Venus and Jupiter tonight!

Did you miss it last night?  After I posted the illustration on Facebook and Twitter last night about having good visibility to see the moon, Jupiter and Venus in the western sky, we had tons of comments about it.  A lot of folks really enjoyed seeing it!  You will have another chance tonight.  A few clouds will try to build in from the south and east.  We should have enough clear skies to see it again tonight after sunset.

Look at the illustration from Earthsky.org on what you will see in tonight's sky.  If you saw it last night, you will notice that it will look a little different tonight.  This time, the moon will be a little closer to Jupiter.  Last night, it was closer to Venus.  (See the picture from Scott Michael Anna from last night)  This is very easy to see.  You don't need any special telescopes or equipment.  Your naked eye will do just fine.

More Clouds MIx with Sun Today-WEATHER BLOG

We started off cold again this morning.  It was in the mid 30s in Atlanta.  Outside the city, a lot of folks woke up to temps at freezing.  More clouds are mixing in with the sun today.

We will continue with that sun and cloud mix.  There will be a chance of a light shower later tonight into the overnight hours.  Those showers will move out early Monday with mostly cloudy skies sticking with us.

We are still watching warmer air to move in for the middle of the week as another front moves in.  There will be more showers and even a few thunderstorms by Wednesday.

More in the blog later on the chances you can see the moon, Jupiter and Venus lined up in the sky after sunset.

Star Gazing-WEATHER BLOG

Did you see it?  We had a great view this evening of the crescent moon, Venus and Jupiter.  I mentioned it on Facebook and Twitter earlier and was amazed at all of the comments.  People seemed to really enjoy seeing this sight!

The good news is, it is possible to see it for the next couple of night.  The bad news is, there will be more clouds blocking out the view.  Visibility was great Saturday.  Sunday we might be able to see a little of it again just after sunset.  Monday, the chances are lower due to thicker clouds.

Here's the updated webcast showing the additional clouds moving in.

Temps are cooling down again as the wind dies down.  Here's the updated webcast!

Another Cold Night-Some Changes Ahead

Another Cold Night-Some Changes Ahead

Winter isn't over yet.  It still felt like it for a majority of the day.  We started with a low of 34 degrees this morning in Atlanta.  Many areas outside the city were around freezing.  Temps gradually warmed up with the sunshine mixing in with some high thin clouds.  It didn't feel too warm though thanks to the wind.  We had windy conditions all afternoon.  The peak wind gust was 36 mph.  Our average wind speed for today was 13mph.

The wind will settle down tonight.  Temperatures will cool off again late tonight and overnight.  Lows by morning will move down to 34 degrees.  There will be a few areas that dip to freezing again.  The wind will shift tomorrow and come out of the east and southeast.  That will pick up a little Atlantic moisture and spread a few more clouds into the area.  The east wind and additional clouds will hold our high temps in the 50s again.
