Hail yeah!

Quarter sized hail with some of tonight's storms.  This picture was sent in by Carolyn Hill in Calhoun.  As the thunderstorn passed through at around 6:30pm...Carolyn said that it was really noisy saying it sounded like it was going to break the windows!  This line of storms is moving south and weakening.  Overnight we will dry out and Palm Sunday will be sunnier and warmer with highs in the 80s!

Severe T-Storms moving through this evening

Thunderstorms, some of them severe,  extending in a line from Dalton to Greenville this evening have produced winds over 60mph, heavy rain, and quarter sized hail.  Be careful if you are out on the roadways this evening.  This line should pass through the Atlanta metro area between 7-9pm.

The best day of the weekend: Sunday!

Saturday: A cloudy start...then sunshine mixed with clouds in the afternoon, chance for isolated T-Storms. Highs: upper 70s

Saturday night: Partly Cloudy Lows: mid 50s

Sunday: Mostly Sunny and Warm Highs: low 80s

9:10 Radar Update, Heavy Rain

9:10 Radar Update, Heavy Rain

The heavy rain is now moving up towards Sandy Springs and Dunwoody. It will eventually make it to Roswell and Johns Creek in the next 30 minutes. There is a little lightning in this area of heavy rain, but it is very sparse. The rainfall rates are very high, arojund 2-3.5 inches per hour so minor street flooding could occur. The rain will taper off to a light rain after this and continue through the night.

Short Term

Spring Break, T-Storms, All in the ATL!

Spring Break, T-Storms, All in the ATL!

It is spring break and I should have remembered that earlier today when I was leaving for work. It took about 55 minutes to get to the station where it usually takes me around 30... Of course what is spring break without an afternoon round of showers and storms, which is what we have going on this afternoon...

Short Term

There is a weak wave at the upper levels that is heading in this direction and will continue to pop t-storms across all of N Georgia this afternoon and evening. Some of the storms could be just strong enough to get a severe t-storm warning, but I am not expecting a widespread severe weather outbreak. Storms will continue through the overnight but weaken once the sun starts to go down. There will some lingering showers in the morning but for the most part the storms should wind down.
