Twister's fury caught on surveillance cameras

MORGAN Co., Ky. (NBC) -- The violent EF-3 tornado that ripped through Morgan County, Kentucky one week ago was caught on several surveillance systems across the area.

"It's scarier to watch this video than it was to be in the basement," said Randy Risner, who was taking cover inside his house while his security cameras were rolling. "It's the closest thing to Hell on Earth that you'd ever seen."

The image goes from an eery calm to what looks like a scene out of a Hollywood blockbuster, with trees pulled from the ground, a car being moved around, and pieces being torn from a house.

"We feel real lucky," said Risner. "We're a lot luckier than a lot of people."

The surveillance cameras at Clinic Pharmacy were also on, capturing a customer riding out the storm in the parking lot, while the roof was torn off of a nearby building.

Scattered Showers

Scattered Showers

After a sunny weekend, clouds have moved back into the area.  An approaching frontal boundary will weakens as it moves toward us. Look for a slight chance of showers starting mid morning and lasting through tonight. There is the possibility of isolated T-Storms. The chance of showers will continue Tuesday with a little instability, there could be a rumble of thunder or two. The chance of showers and thunderstorms should end by Tuesday afternoon. Not expecting any severe weather at this time.

Long Term:

Will start to feel more like spring by mid-week as temperatures will be getting close to 80 degrees. There will be sunshine Wednesday and Thursday, but typical of a summer like pattern, there will be a slight chance for an afternoon T-Storms to pop up. Also have to be on the lookout for record highs later this week!

Rain Chances Going Up

Rain Chances Going Up

Clouds have been gradually building in and thickening today.  So far, the air has remained pretty dry.  The dewpoints are increasing as more moisture begins to move in.  Eventually, it will be moist enough for a few showers to develop later tonight.  They will only be scattered light showers later.  Our rain chance goes up Monday.  We will have more clouds and a few showers off and on during the day.  There will be plenty of dry hours on Monday, too.

The chances for thunderstorms are pretty low.  All of the ingredients just aren't there for a severe weather threat for us.  We may have a few rumbles of thunder and flashes of lightning, but I'm not concerned about any severe thunderstorms here.  Check out the map that shows the slight risk in the Great Lakes area.  Notice the green color over much or our area that shows where some "general" thunderstorms could occur.  You will also see the line that says "see text."&n

More Clouds Move in Today-WEATHER BLOG

We had a hard time locating any clouds on Saturday!  Today, it won't be crystal clear.  More clouds will move into the area today and thicken up as we go through the afternoon hours.  I'm not concerned about any rain developing today since the air at the surface is still so dry.

We will see the possibility for a few light showers to develop tonight.  A few showers will be more likely on Monday.  It won't rain all day but there will be some off and on showers around.

The rain chances stick with us this week.  There will be plenty of dry hours mixed in.  It's also getting warmer.  Check out the forecast in the updated weather video!

Weather Changes for Sunday-WEATHER BLOG

Saturday was a great day.  We had plenty of sunshine and our high temp got up to 65 degrees.  It won't be quite as nice on Sunday.  Temps will still be a little chilly in the morning hours on Sunday.  It will warm again very nicely to the mid 60s again.  So the temperatures will be similar to what we had Saturday, but the sky condition will be much different.

We will start off with some sunshine mixing in with a few clouds early.  The clouds will gradually increase during the day.  We don't expect any rain from those clouds on Sunday.  The showers will eventually come in on Monday.

Spring Forward Tonight!

Spring Forward Tonight!

I hope you have heard the reminders so far about "springing forward" tonight.  Tonight is the night you need to set your clocks ahead one hour.  It officially happens at 2am.  You don't have to wait until then, just set it before you go to bed tonight.

There are a lot of opinions flying about whether or not we even need to adjust our clocks twice a year anymore.  I've also heard some folks saying that it seems to be happening early this year.  Congress did adjust when Daylight Saving Time would start and end.  They extended the time frame.  In 2007, the start of DST changed from the first Sunday in April to the second Sunday in March.  It also extended the end of DST from the last Sunday in October to the first Sunday in November.  That added about a month to Daylight Saving Time.

You will need to be aware of the changes in sunrise and sunset over the next week until you can get used to it.  If you are used to sending

Nice Weekend! -WEATHER BLOG

Temps started of pretty cold Saturday morning.  Those cold temps are the only reason why we aren't giving today an 11 on the WIZometer!!  It will warm up pretty nicely today.  By lunchtime, we will be close to 60 degrees.  We will top off this afternoon in the mid 60s.  It will also be sunny throughout the day.

Don't forget to "Spring Forward" tonight!  We move from standard time to daylight saving time.  Yes, you will lose an hour of sleep Sunday morning.  But, you will get enjoy more daylight later in the day.
